Another silver lining? Smaller Prides that don't get as much attention as the bigger prides were center stage during Virtual Pride. For example, those who usually couldn't attend a physical pride because of physical limitations or those who always wanted to but didn't have the means - instead of being isolated - could celebrate with their friends and family from all over. The event was a massive success in terms of being a historic first, and there were many unforeseen silver linings of the pandemic that came to light. In record time, Virtual Pride gave 28 pride organizations a voice using GayTravel’s digital megaphone that trended on Twitter. NYC Pride has become a focal point for celebration worldwide, with millions gathering together. Waving pride flags in the United States has been happening for over 50 years since the first pride parade took place in New York City on June 28, 1970, one year after the Stonewall Riots of 1969.
